Garland's Business Scene

Garland Combines
Manufacturing Strength
with Diverse Commerce.

One of the largest cities in the DFW Metroplex, Garland combines a strong manufacturing and defense subcontracting base with a diverse suburban economy. The Firewheel Town Center, a growing Asian business community along the I-635 corridor, and proximity to Dallas and Richardson make Garland a significant business hub in eastern Dallas County.

That manufacturing and commercial diversity creates opportunity — and financial complexity. Business owners in Garland need clean books, clear cash flow visibility, and a partner who can keep up with them as they scale.

📈

Manufacturing & Defense Base

Garland maintains a strong manufacturing sector — including defense subcontracting, electronics, and food production — providing a stable industrial economy.

🏙️

Diverse Business Community

Garland's growing Asian business community, diverse restaurants, and international markets make it one of the most culturally dynamic cities in the DFW Metroplex.

🤝

Affordable Business Location

Lower commercial rents than Dallas and Plano — combined with Texas's lack of state income tax — make Garland attractive for small businesses and entrepreneurs.

📍 About Garland, TX

The City Behind the Business.

Garland is more than a zip code — it's one of Texas's most dynamic cities. Understanding its neighborhoods, roads, history, and economy is how we serve our clients better.

History & Economic Growth

Founded in 1891 at the junction of the Santa Fe and Missouri-Kansas-Texas railroads, Garland was incorporated in 1891 and grew as a small farming and cotton ginning center northeast of Dallas. The city was named after U.S. Attorney General Augustus H. Garland.

World War II brought defense manufacturing, and the postwar era saw Garland transform from a farming town into a major manufacturing center. Varo Inc. and other defense contractors established operations, and Raytheon maintained a significant presence. The Firewheel Town Center (2005) brought upscale retail to northeast Garland, and a growing Asian-American community — particularly Vietnamese, Chinese, and Korean businesses — transformed the I-635/Walnut Street corridor into a vibrant international dining and shopping destination. DART light rail connected Garland to downtown Dallas, improving accessibility and attracting transit-oriented development.

Today that blend of manufacturing and multicultural commerce continues — with more small business owners than ever, and more who need clean books to grow with confidence.
