Corpus Christi's Business Scene

Corpus Christi Powers
America's Largest
Crude Oil Export Port.

As home to the Port of Corpus Christi — the nation's number-one crude oil export port — Corpus Christi anchors a coastal economy spanning energy, petrochemical refining, military operations, tourism, and wind energy. The city's bayfront setting on the Gulf of Mexico, Naval Air Station Corpus Christi, and proximity to Padre Island National Seashore create a unique mix of industrial strength and coastal lifestyle.

That energy-driven economy creates opportunity — and financial complexity. Business owners in Corpus Christi need clean books, clear cash flow visibility, and a partner who can keep up with them as they scale.

📈

Energy & Petrochemical Hub

The Port of Corpus Christi is the #1 crude oil export port in the U.S., and the region hosts major refineries and petrochemical plants.

🏙️

Coastal Tourism Economy

Padre Island National Seashore, the Texas State Aquarium, and the USS Lexington Museum draw millions of visitors annually.

🤝

Wind Energy Pioneer

The Coastal Bend is one of Texas's largest wind energy corridors, with hundreds of turbines generating clean power for the state grid.

📍 About Corpus Christi, TX

The City Behind the Business.

Corpus Christi is more than a zip code — it's one of Texas's most dynamic cities. Understanding its neighborhoods, roads, history, and economy is how we serve our clients better.

History & Economic Growth

Founded in 1839 by Colonel Henry Lawrence Kinney as a trading post on Corpus Christi Bay, the city's name means "Body of Christ" in Latin. It grew as a ranching center and wool market, and served as the staging ground for General Zachary Taylor's army before the Mexican-American War in 1846.

The 1926 deep-water port transformed Corpus Christi into a major shipping hub, and Naval Air Station Corpus Christi (1941) established the city's military identity. The petrochemical industry boomed along the Ship Channel, CITGO, Flint Hills Resources, and Valero built major refineries, and the port grew into the nation's largest crude oil export terminal. The Harbor Bridge replacement project — the longest cable-stayed bridge in the Western Hemisphere — signals continued investment. Wind energy emerged as a major industry, and Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi grew into a regional research university.

Today that energy and coastal economy continues — with more small business owners than ever, and more who need clean books to grow with confidence.
