📍 About Marietta, GA

The City Behind the Business.

Marietta is more than a zip code — it's one of Georgia's most dynamic cities. Understanding its neighborhoods, roads, history, and economy is how we serve our clients better.

History & Economic Growth

Founded in 1834 and named after U.S. Senator Thomas Willis Cobb's wife Mary, Marietta grew as a resort town prized for its mountain air and railroad access. The city became the seat of Cobb County and a staging ground during the Civil War — the Great Locomotive Chase of 1862 began at the nearby Kennesaw depot.

The 20th century brought defense industry transformation: Bell Aircraft (later Lockheed Martin) opened a massive manufacturing plant during World War II to build B-29 bombers, and the facility has been producing military aircraft ever since. Dobbins Air Reserve Base added a permanent military presence, and WellStar Health System grew from Kennestone Hospital into one of Georgia's largest healthcare organizations, headquartered in Marietta.

Today that blend of defense, healthcare, and local commerce continues — with more small business owners than ever, and more who need clean books to grow with confidence.
